About the Role
The Assistant Accountant will be responsible for performing reconciliations, investigating variances, and maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledgers.

Specifically, the Assistant Accountant will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of Project revenue accounting, NetSuite revenue plans, the preparation of journals, answering business queries and providing ongoing support to the greater finance team.

This role will also play a critical role in the design and implementation of fit for purpose processes, playing a key role in group-wide ERP improvement and finance projects.

This role can be based in either Auckland or Christchurch.

What you'll bring

  • Passion for process improvement and simplification
  • Focus on accuracy and timeliness of finance outputs
  • Detailed knowledge of general accounting systems, processes, and practices that impact revenue
  • 12 years of general accounting experience
  • Being a Qualified Accountant or studying towards your CA would be desirable but not required

Responsibilities:

  • Run revenue recognition against projects in Open Air and verify amount
  • Review and analyse project balances in both IIA and WIP
  • Ensuring all journals are done accurately to the correct Line of business & project code
  • Answering to business queries around revenue, WIP and IIA
  • Providing ongoing support to the business to understand revenue & how its accounted for
  • Reviewing the various month end balance sheet reconciliation
  • Investigate and find resolution of discrepancies from the reconciliation
  • Partner and collaborate with other functional accounting teams, Group Finance, Finance Business Partner, Business Operations, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and the business to streamline processes and develop controls and effective accounting policies in accordance with IFRS and industry best practices.
  • Ensuring all accounting tasks are completed within the set timeframe and any issues addressed as they arise
  • Identify areas of process improvement and finding ways of delivering efficiency for the team
