Property Officer - NZ High Commission, LondonThe New Zealand High Commission in London is recruiting a Property Officer.

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role The Property Officer:

  • manages the High Commission property portfolio and ensures compliance with the Ministry's property processes and policies;
- provides property advice to the seconded Admin Manager, and guidance to NZ Inc agency heads;
- ensures that NZ Government-owned property, furniture and equipment are purchased, maintained and supported in accordance with Ministry guidelines;
- ensures that the High Commission complies with UK property regulations;
- has oversight of the Facilities Assistant, Office Cleaner, and Residence Housekeeper;
- provides back-up and support to the Senior Finance Manager with the post budget;
- in cooperation with the Senior Finance Officer, process SEP leave, and SEP/SNZ payroll, utilizing the SD Worx leave management and payroll portal; and
- provides support and advice to the Counsellor (Management) regarding HR issues and personnel records.

This is a locally employed position, with terms and conditions being set in accordance with UK employment regulations. The High Commission does not provide assistance with accommodation or airfares.

Starting salary is likely to be offered at around £35,480, depending on experience.

The successful applicant should have:

  • Experience in property management and with maintenance issues.
  • Knowledge and experience of UK property and building regulations, rental of property and negotiation of tenancy leases.
  • Experience in project management, or project management support.
  • Some experience relating to payroll and HR systems.
  • Awareness and understanding of UK employment laws and HR policy.
  • Experience with a wide range of office administrative procedures.
  • Very good oral and written English communication skills.
  • Capacity for effective decision making, analytical and numeracy skills.
  • Proactive and with initiative, and a flexible 'can do approach' at all times.
  • Ability to work autonomously within guidelines and under pressure.
  • Good planning, accuracy and organisational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • High standards of discretion (including confidentiality requirements) and tact.
