Transpower is a State-Owned Enterprise that owns and operates the National Grid - the transmission network that carries electricity around the country.

Our portfolio of assets includes ~12,000km of high voltage transmission lines, ~60km of underground and submarine cable, over 40,000 supporting towers and poles, and 175 substations.

The nature of our work is challenging and complex which is why we attract curious, thoughtful, and hardworking people who work collaboratively to deliver the change necessary to enable Aotearoa's energy future.

About the team

Based within our Customers & External Affairs division, our small but experienced Property Services team provides expertise and specialist advice and support in the acquisition, management, and disposal of Transpower's property portfolio.

The team doesn't manage corporate properties or offices. They look after substations, depots, warehouses, 2000 easements, and 350 leases.

The team works with customers, service providers, and partners to ensure our property portfolio is fit for purpose to enable the effective operation of the grid.

They work closely alongside our Landowner Relations team who manage the relationships with our landowners, enabling access to our assets.

About the opportunity

You'll deliver trusted property advisory services to internal and external stakeholders with the aim to deliver services and advice of the highest standard and in line with best practice.


With no two days the same, you'll:

  • Facilitate the acquisition, disposal, and management of the land and property portfolio, which includes freehold land, leases, licenses, and easements
  • Provide advice and input into major capital projects, including customerfunded projects


Over time, with lots of on-the-job learning opportunities, you'll develop strong networks and deep understanding of varied property legislation and regulation, including that which is unique to Transpower as a Network Utility Operator.

Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate:

  • A tertiary qualification in Property, Valuation, Commercial, or Legal
  • 2+ years' experience in land/property advisory, including working knowledge of New Zealand's land and property legislation


You understand that to get things done, it's essential to collaborate effectively and foster positive relationships with peers, customers, and stakeholders.
