The Role:


The Sales Manager plays a crucial role in enhancing company performance by executing the strategic objectives and targets of BIC New Zealand's business.

It involves overseeing and assessing the performance in Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Finance to ensure the attainment of sales revenue and profitability goals within New Zealand.

This position holds full P&L responsibility for the country.

This role also entails direct management of national accounts and other channel management tasks within BIC New Zealand's operations, demanding a high level of professionalism in customer interactions on a daily basis.


Responsibilities:

Leadership
The most senior position assumes overall accountability for various business functions within the country. This includes national sales, field sales, marketing, finance, customer service, supply chain, and human resources

  • Oversee the management and direction of the 3PL commercial agreement.
  • Foster a performance-driven and customer-focused culture
  • Challenge existing assumptions and identify necessary adjustments in strategy.
  • Cultivate relationships and align key stakeholders both internally and externally (customers) towards shared goals and objectives.
  • Lead by example and promote a cultural shift within the workplace. The position requires a strong presence in Auckland to ensure accessibility and visibility to the team.

Business Planning
Total P&L responsibility for operations in New Zealand;

  • Develop the Domestic Business Plan outlining the go-to-market strategy for the NZ customer portfolio.
  • Supervise full-year customer business/account plans for the NZ account team. This involves establishing robust senior commercial relationships with customers.
  • Manage the Internal Business Planning process by monitoring the NZ 12-month forecast and regularly updating variances in the monthly S&OP reporting cycle to meet service level KPIs efficiently for both the organization and customers.

Profitable Sales Growth

  • Achieve and exceed all financial targets.
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop commercial strategies based on financial metrics to drive profit growth within the organization.
  • Optimize sales expenditure to maximize efficiency; Ensure effective management of the sales capex plan and assets in alignment with the budget and total country P&L.

Category Review Process

  • Lead the customer's category review process across multiple product categories and segments.
  • Implement designated category growth drivers that meet specific consumer needs and support the customer's objectives along with BIC's corporate and category objectives.

Trade Spend Investment

  • Enhance the return on trade spend investment in NZ while balancing shopper, customer, and BIC's goals.
  • Collaborate with the NZ account team to devise and implement the category's promotional strategy.

Talent Development

  • Build a high-performing team by attracting top talent in the industry and nurturing the existing team.
  • Implement development programs to equip the team with the skills needed to achieve the organization's goals.
  • Provide continuous support, coaching, challenges, and recognition to team members.
  • Execute effective succession planning and prepare identified individuals for future roles.

Requirements:

  • Proven industry experience in a sales management role, particularly in the CPG industry
  • Background in total P&L management for a country/region; Possess a commercially focused mindset with financial expertise
  • Extensive experience managing major retailers in New Zealand
  • Academic qualifications in commerce or business
  • Proficient in managing teams across various business functions, including sales, operations, and finance
  • Ability for innovative and entrepreneurial thinking and actions
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Well-groomed and highly motivated
  • Track record of successful new business development
  • Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities
  • Leadership skills to lead cross-functional teams effectively.
