Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The opportunity
As Senior Advisor, Ministerial Services, you will provide advice, support, and coordination of official correspondence requests.

This is a great opportunity for a team player who thrives on being able to use initiative to achieve results.

This role will suit an experienced Advisor who has an excellent reputation for co-ordinating official correspondence processes and a strong eye for detail.

You will be joining a small, passionate team of kaimahi who are dedicated to contributing to the Ministry's success. In this role you can shape, influence, and contribute to better Ministerial Services outcomes for Te Puni Kōkiri.

Reporting to the Manager, Ministerial Services, you will:

  • Contribute to the Ministry being well positioned to meet the servicing expectations of Ministers now and into the future
  • Support provision of high quality, timely advice and information to the Minister for Māori Development, the Minister for Whānau Ora, and other Ministers as required
  • Support consistent improvement and the development of new tools, templates, and resources to assist staff and stakeholders
  • Assist with official correspondence related reporting
  • Provide guidance and support to colleagues
  • Have an interest in contributing to Māori wellbeing and development.

To be successful in the role you will:

  • Have significant experience in public sector Ministerial correspondence, with sound knowledge of processes
  • Be technically proficient with the ability to critically analyse official correspondence for quality assurance purposes while also ensuring timely delivery of high quality outputs
  • Be proactive and use your initiative, maturity and common sense to coordinate, guide and prioritise your activity
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop strong and effective relationships with colleagues and kaimahi across Te Puni Kōkiri and in the Ministers' offices
  • Have a sound understanding of the machinery of government and government processes, combined with demonstrable public sector 'savvy' and political awareness
  • Demonstrate ability to critically review current processes and practices with a view to improving and enabling better practice into the future.
