An exciting opportunity have arisen to join DPMC's Ministerial Services team on a permanent basis.

We are looking for an Advisor / Senior Advisor to join the existing Ministerial Services team at DPMC, to help us with the ongoing volume of work related to new business units within DPMC.


To be successful in this role you will:

  • Be a senior-level advisor who has strong experience working in a Ministerial Services team
  • Have a deep understanding of the Official Information Act (OIA) and experience handling complex and sensitive information when processing OIA requests or the proactive release of Cabinet material
  • Have experience drafting Ministerial correspondence and responding to Written Parliamentary Questions
  • Be a selfstarter, organised, and enthusiastic
  • Be a team player who enjoys supporting and mentoring more junior staff, with a willingness to step up and lead the team when needed
  • Have a flexible and adaptable approach to work and comfortable working in an environment of continuous improvement
  • Be able to maintain a highstandard of work for both yourself and the team


This will suit an experienced Senior Advisor who is looking for a challenge in the heart of government and for Advisors looking to hone their skills in a highly experienced team.

You will be a confident and quick-learner, with strong collaboration skills and flexible mind-set, who can work at pace.
A little bit about the friendly DPMC Ministerial Services team
The DPMC Ministerial Services team is located within the Strategy, Governance and Engagement Group (SGE).

The team is a centralised group that oversees responses to Official Information Act (OIA) requests through the coordination and drafting of responses, and the provision of advice as required.

The team drafts departmental and Ministerial correspondence, coordinates draft answers to Written Parliamentary Questions (WPQs), manages the publication of OIA responses, and the proactive release of Cabinet material.

The team also provides OIA and correspondence support to the Office of the Prime Minister (PMO), the offices of all DPMC portfolio Ministers, and the Prime Minister's Chief Science Advisor, as required.

We currently have seven business units; Cabinet Office and Government House, the Child Wellbeing and Child Poverty Reduction Group, the National Security Group (including the Royal Commission of Inquiry), the Policy Advisory Group, the Strategy, Governance and Engagement Group, the Covid19 Response Group, and the Implementation Unit.

As one of the three central agencies, DPMC also plays a leadership and coordination role for other public sector agencies.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is also a departmental agency within DPMC.
