Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission leads the public sector to make a positive difference for New Zealand and New Zealanders.
We have a 12-month fixed term position for a Senior Ministerial Advisor or Ministerial Advisor to backfill a parental leave vacancy from 30 June 2024 in the Ministerial and Executive Services team at Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission.
The positions provide efficient and effective ministerial services to the Commission and its stakeholders. It is also the Commission's key liaison with the office of the Minister for the Public Service which requires oversight of complex and sensitive requests.

To be successful in this role you will:
- Be someone who has strong experience working in a Ministerial Services team, minister's office, or chief executive's office, and is comfortable providing advice to senior leaders
- Be a self-starter, organised, and enthusiastic
- Be able to build strong effective relationships
- Have excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Have the ability to manage a broad range of product deliverables
- Have knowledge of the Public Service and understanding of the context for public service agencies.
- Have experience leading ministerial and parliamentary correspondence and questions, including Written and Oral Parliamentary Questions, and material for select committees
- Have an understanding of the Official Information Act (OIA) and experience handling complex and sensitive information
- Be tech savviness and be comfortable using a range of technologies or applications, e.g., Adobe, Microsoft Products, Sharepoint
- Have a flexible and adaptable approach to work and be comfortable working in an environment of continuous improvement
These roles will suit an experienced Senior Advisor / Advisor who is a confident and quick learner, with strong collaboration skills, and an enthusiastic and flexible mind-set.

For an Advisor, this position usually pays between $79,619 to $97,644 depending on skills and experience.
For a Senior Advisor, this position usually pays between $106,296 to $129,471 depending on skills and experience.
