This is a great opportunity if you are seeking to enhance your knowledge and understanding of the inner workings of the Ministry.

You will be joining a small, passionate team of kaimahi who are dedicated to contributing to the Ministry's success.


The Governance team provides oversight and coordination of governance activity across Te Puni Kōkiri, supporting quality decision making and connection between decision makers.


Reporting to the Manager, Governance, the Senior Advisor, Governance supports the team, and the Puni to ensure best practice in organisational governance activity, and the smooth running of the Executive Leadership Team engagements, and governance committee meetings.


This role will focus on:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of the Governance Work Programme and priority workstreams.
  • Providing secretariat support to the Executive Leadership Team Board and governance committees.
  • Supporting kaimahi with best practice governance activity and engagement.
  • Developing new tools, templates, and resources to align with best practice governance activity.
  • Managing the Governance Secretariat mailbox and responding to queries.

  • Be able to demonstrate problemsolving capabilities for technical and user issues.
  • An analytical thinker who can make the connections between various aspects of the organisation and implications for your business unit.

  • Understand the machinery of government and government processes.

  • Understanding the relevance of the Treaty of Waitangi and Te Tiriti o Waitangi to the work being undertaken.
