Salary banding starts at $65,000 to the mid-range of $90,000 per annum.

Building Control Officer

The Role:

As a Building Control Officer, you'll be at the forefront of shaping the future of our district.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting inspections to ensure compliance with building regulations and standards.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to builders, developers, and homeowners.
  • Collaborating with diverse stakeholders to promote best practices in building construction and design.
  • Enforcing regulations to uphold safety and quality standards within our community.

What We're Looking For:

  • A professional qualification in the building industry at a minimum level of one or more of the following is required:
  • Diploma in Building Surveying
  • New Zealand Certificate in Building or equivalent
  • Craftsman Plumber and Registered Drainlayer
  • Advanced Trade Certificate in Building
  • Multi-Skilled Officers Certificate
  • Excellent communication skills and computer knowledge with a desire to work collaboratively to achieve the right outcomes
  • Have a good working knowledge of current building code and legislation
  • Significant experience in building control functions including plan processing and inspections (preferred but not essential)
  • Hold a current driver's licence
