  • About the role:
We are looking for a Snr. Threats and Vulnerability Analyst to join the Insights and Intelligence team within CERT NZ.

The role is responsible for collecting and monitoring active as well as potential cyber security threats, while gathering useful cyber intelligence from a wide range of sources.

This role will be pivotal in using advanced cyber techniques to extract intelligence from current and future threats, as well as developing processes for understanding and exploring threats and vulnerabilities affecting New Zealand.

CERT NZ works to support businesses, organisations and individuals who are affected (or may be affected) by cyber security incidents.

We provide trusted and authoritative information and advice, while also collating a profile of the threat landscape in New Zealand.

CERT NZ's primary goal is to improve cyber security in New Zealand, which means:

  • Increased comprehension of the threat landscape
  • Better avoidance of incidents, and
  • Reducing the impact of incidents.

  • Thorough understanding of information security and how computers work.
  • Indepth knowledge of cyber threats and the threat landscape with 3+ years' experience in cyber security.
  • Experience with network and system security analysis is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK, diamond model, or cyber kill chain desirable
  • Proven ability to translate technical knowledge and language in a way that audiences from all backgrounds can understand
  • Strong writing skills for technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Strong analysis skills and the ability to bring complex threat intelligence together to answer security and risk related questions.
  • A tertiary qualification, preferably in a technical discipline (e.g. System Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security) and/or comparable relevant industry experience.
  • Must be a NZ citizen or hold a residence class visa.
  • Credit check required.
  • Police vetting required.
