ABOUT THE ROLE


As the Senior Information Security Specialist - Security Operations, you will make up part of the ICT Security team which is critical to maintaining the organisation's security strategy, standards and processes.

The team is responsible for the security of the organisation's data and information systems and services.

Ensuring these are deployed, innovated, maintained and operated in line with industry best practice standards to meet the security requirements of the organisation.

This team provide security operations, product and architecture expertise and support to the workstream and business stakeholders.


The Senior Information Security Specialist - Security Operations will be an experienced incident management professional who will be responsible for a range of operational tasks including L3 investigation and resolution of priority security incidents and requests and development of supporting standard operating procedures and playbooks.

This role will offer you the opportunity to work collaboratively with a variety of technical and business stakeholders to innovate the organisation's security capabilities.


DUTIES

  • Manage, investigate and resolve priority security incidents and requests in accordance with the organisation's standard operating procedures
  • Respond to alerts in the SIEM and monitoring tools to investigate vulnerabilities, threats and incidents
  • Escalate matters to Security Operations Lead or ITSM as appropriate
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and processes
  • Write security incident closure reports
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide specialist and best practice security advice and guidance to the organisation's users
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated experience working as an IT Security Analyst or similar role
  • Proven experience and knowledge in security incident management and resolution
  • Strong ability to conduct scanning and penetration testing to identify security risks and vulnerabilities in the organisation's software and systems
  • Ability to write and communicate well and build effective working relationships with a wide range of business and technical stakeholders
  • Knowledge of security standards such as NZISM, PSR, PCI-DSS or ISO2700
  • A team player and selfstarter with a strong desire to learn
  • Experience in the following areas is beneficial:
  • Sound experience with Azure Sentinel, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Intune and SolarWinds
  • Experience with security testing tools such as Qualys, OpenVAS and Burp
