About the position | Mō te Tūranga

As an HR Business Partner at Awanui, you will collaborate closely with General Managers, Operations Managers, Laboratory Managers, and Heads of Departments in the Central North Island region. Your role will involve providing high-quality advice, guidance, and coaching to managers and staff, enhancing performance, engagement, and leadership while ensuring compliance with employment legislation. You will lead an HR Advisor and also participate in HR projects that promote workforce development in line with Awanui's values and objectives. This position is based at Wellington Regional Hospital, Newtown, and supports the Central North Island region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Chief People Officer and with a direct report of an HR Advisor, you will manage workflows in alignment with business and People team priorities.
  • You will oversee all aspects of HRBP, including HR Operations, employee relations, industrial relations, performance & remuneration, and change management.
  • Utilize HR metrics to offer insights that inform and influence business decisions.
  • Manage the annual salary and performance review processes and contribute to the enhancement of HR policies and procedures.
  • Foster constructive relationships with Unions and their representatives, actively participating in the collective bargaining process for relevant business areas.

  • 8 years of operational HR experience with a solid foundation in various HR practices, including recruitment, HR documentation, and industrial/employment relations, and a strong understanding of employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience working in a complex and unionized environment is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities through project ownership and task delegation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail and strong research capabilities.
  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
