Whaikaha – Ministry of Disabled People has a unique mandate of having responsibility to steward change across Government, while commissioning disability support services, as well as transforming how these services are delivered.

As the Principal Advisor to the DCE you will work directly with the DCE Policy, Strategy and Partnerships to provide strategic analysis and advice to support the diverse work of the Policy, Strategy and Partnerships business group, and contribute to wider strategic planning for Whaikaha.

You will work across Whaikaha to ensure strong and appropriate linkages with and between programmes of work, including their implementation, planning, funding and monitoring.

Leading the development of the business group's work programme you will provide principal analyst level expertise and advice on strategic issues and opportunities for Whaikaha and for the Policy, Strategy and Partnerships business group.

This includes relationship management, problem definition, options analysis, and other aspects of critical thinking.

About You:
You will have considerable experience in providing strategic advice and analysis to organizational leaders and stakeholders.

Your experience leading the design and implementation of mechanisms to gather evidence to inform policy and service improvements will be the key to success in this role.

You will have a strong background in applying critical thinking, analysis and sound judgement to provide strategic advice.

You will have knowledge and experience of the analytical tools used in government, and the best ways to apply them to support better outcomes.

This will be paired with experience and knowledge of a range of research, evidence, and analytical methods, including emerging and innovative approaches and frameworks.

You will have a high degree of proficiency in writing documents suited to a wide range of audiences this includes Minister briefings and papers.

To undertake this role successfully, you will be a disabled person or be able to establish credibility and trust with the disability community, as well as having empathy and an understanding of the unique and diverse experiences of disabled people.
