Avondale, Auckland, New Zealand Petdirect Full time NZ$80,000 - NZ$120,000 per year

ROLE SUMMARY

We are Petdirect, a fast-growing eCommerce and retail business that's transforming the way Kiwi pet parents shop for their furry family members. As a digital-first company, we embrace technology and AI to work smarter and deliver a seamless customer experience. Proudly NZ-owned and operated, we're a passionate team of PetSters dedicated to helping pets and their people live happier lives. We were also recognised as one of New Zealand's Best Places to Work for 2025 in the medium business category, something we're incredibly proud of and committed to living up to every day.

We're looking for a Supply Chain Manager who can drive efficiency across the earliest stages of procurement, ensuring our business operates at its best. In this role, you'll take ownership of maintaining optimal stock levels through strong partnerships with suppliers and close collaboration with our internal teams. A key part of your work will be ensuring the right products are available at the right time, accurately presented, and set up to support smooth and efficient warehouse operations.

As our Supply Chain Manager, you'll also play a critical role in managing stock availability, supplier engagement, and internal coordination to support strong operational performance across the business. Success in this role means proactively managing stock requirements, resolving supply issues quickly, and helping us streamline the flow of goods into our network.

This role is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week role based on-site at our Avondale offices, working Monday to Friday.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Attitude is key in this role. At our core, we are a values-driven business. We seek individuals who embody our principles: those who stay hungry for excellence while remaining grounded. We value every person and believe in doing what's right. We appreciate those who act like owners and go the extra mile in everything they do. It's the extra 1% that makes a difference.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

Supply Chain Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute a commercial, customer-led supply chain strategy that supports both short-term and long-term demand requirements.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and process improvements to continually strengthen supply chain performance.
  • Oversee demand planning functions to maintain high forecast accuracy and support business growth.
  • Contribute to monthly IBP (Integrated Business Planning) meetings and provide clear, concise executive IBP summaries.
  • Maintain accuracy of supply chain data, forecasting models, and system configurations

Stock Management

  • Manage purchasing budgets to ensure inventory holdings align with stock-holding KPIs.
  • Plan delivery schedules in line with promotions, seasonality, supply reliability and public holidays.
  • Maintain appropriate stock coverage by developing and managing domestic and international supply policies.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and the Merchandise team to monitor and respond to out-of-stocks.
  • Manage stock redistribution between DCs to ensure the right product is in the right location at the right time.
  • Proactively communicate weekly inbound volumes to the warehouse inwards team to support efficient labour and space planning.
  • Oversee the accurate receipt of invoices against purchase orders and investigate or resolve any discrepancies.
  • Oversee claims for short-dated, damaged, or unsellable stock, ensuring adjustments reflect the true inventory position.

Supplier Management

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to improve reliability, service levels, and commercial outcomes.
  • Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and work collaboratively with suppliers to improve performance
  • Support Petdirect's EDI initiative by onboarding new EDI suppliers and managing ongoing EDI compliance.
  • Effectively communicate Petdirect's delivery schedules and purchasing requirements.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Tech-savvy and confident using automation and digital tools to streamline processes.
  • Detail-oriented with high standards for accuracy and quality.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and always looking for smarter ways to work.
  • Highly organised, comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communicator who enjoys collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Positive, adaptable, and motivated by continuous learning and improvement.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in a supply chain management role.
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems, ideally with Netsuite experience.
  • Confident in adopting new software and leveraging technology, including AI-based tools, to enhance efficiency.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, especially Excel and Sheets.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a mindset focused on accuracy, efficiency, and ongoing improvement.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build strong working relationships at all levels.
  • Critical thinking capability with the ability to analyse issues and find effective solutions.
  • Strong decision-making skills, including evaluating priorities, scope, and solution viability.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills, able to ask the right questions and interpret information accurately.
  • Advanced analytical skills, able to deep-dive into detail while maintaining awareness of the broader picture.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and navigate fast-changing environments while maintaining performance.
  • Experience with Netstock is a bonus.

OUR STANDARDS:

  • Seek 1%ers: We embrace continuous learning and strive to improve every day, no matter how small the gain.
  • Act with purpose: We are intentional in our decisions and actions, always keeping the customer at the centre.
  • Be collaborative: We work as one team - respectfully, openly, and with a shared commitment to success.
  • Take responsibility: We own our actions and outcomes, demonstrating accountability at every level.
  • Get it right: We hold ourselves to high standards by prioritising quality and accuracy in everything we do.
