We have a fantastic opportunity for a Site Maintenance Engineer to join our VIP Steel Avondale branch, a subsidiary of the multinational PACT Group PTY.

**About the Role**:
You will work as part of the operational team to achieve the highest levels of performance with regards to customer service, product quality, efficiency, innovation, safety and environment. Being the team champion for reliability and technical skills.

Areas of Accountability:

- Increasing overall plant performance & machine reliability
- Developing and implementing continuous improvement projects\
- Managing cost base related to a robust R&M Program

Your main responsibilities will be:

- Achieving high levels of equipment performance and reliability
- Operating in a highly seasonal business and finding ways to maintain the equipment
- Responding to breakdowns during afternoon shifts and weekends
- Engaging an operations team with high levels of agency staff
- Keeping up with technology
- Upgrading machines and essential services for maximum reliability and efficiency whilst maintaining costs within budget
- Managing and mentoring a skilled engineering team
- Liaising closely with mechanical part & technical suppliers

**About You**:
To be successful in this role you will need the following essential skills & experience:

- Qualification in engineering and broad experience in an appropriate field, together with extensive experience at a senior level.
- Exemplary leadership and people management track record with demonstrable engagement and influencing skills
- Change agile, resilient and skilled at navigating through
- A strong understanding of FMCG equipment and process complimented by prior experience using the principles of Lean manufacturing ambiguity.
- Technical maintenance skills gained in a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of tooling and material handling.
- Team leadership experience
- Implement manual inventory systems when electronic management is not available.
- Highly dedicated and committed to the business.
- Competent in basic computer skills - Maintenance planning, project planning and spreadsheets
- Ability to develop relationships and positively influence people
- Approachable, friendly and professional with a sense of humour and easy-going attitude
- Integrity and trustworthiness
- Adaptable and flexible within a changing work environment
- Self-motivated and results oriented
- Business acumen and practical analytical skills

**Desirable**:

- Hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, safe slinging and lifting
- Dual trade electrical - highly desirable Fitting, Turning and Machining advanced trade certificate
- Prior experience in a maintenance /engineering leadership role within in an FMCG manufacturing environment
- MEX or similar engineering management systems
