About the Role

Taranaki Regional Council is looking for a skilled and experienced leader to take charge of our Operations & Administration team. This is a broad and influential role, responsible for making sure the Council's facilities, logistics, and administrative services run seamlessly-because behind every great region is a great operations team

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing the Operations & Administration team to ensure high performance, excellent service delivery, and outstanding customer service outcomes.
  • Managing Council facilities, including fleet management, real estate, procurement, and operations.
  • Overseeing key support services, such as customer service, reception, catering, business continuity, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Providing strategic advice to senior leadership and ensuring alignment with the Council's long-term vision.
  • Building relationships with key stakeholders, including iwi, government agencies, and service providers.

This is a fast-moving, varied role for someone who enjoys leading teams, improving processes, and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

What We're Looking For

  • A strong leader with experience managing business operations, facilities, procurement, or fleets.
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams, set expectations, and drive efficiency.
  • Strategic thinker who can balance long-term planning with day-to-day problem-solving.
  • Excellent communicator who can work with diverse teams and stakeholders, including iwi partners.
  • A strong focus on delivering customer service excellence across all functions.
  • Desired, but not essential - A tertiary qualification in business, administration, logistics, or a related field.
