Using our expertise in road safety and safety in design to improve the safety and performance of the transport system. The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahiWe are recruiting for a Safety or Senior Safety Engineer for our team in Wellington. This role is fundamental in supporting and informing the team responsible for System Design and Delivery and plays a key role in ensuring traffic and safety policies, procedures and standards are robustly developed, analysed, and implemented. This is an important role working alongside the 'Wellington Transport Alliance (WTA) which is an alliance between Waka Kotahi, Futon Hogan and WSP to manage and maintain the state highway network around the Greater Wellington Region. About you | Ko koe tēnei To succeed as a Safety or Senior Safety Engineer, you'll have:
- A qualification, degree, or technical diploma, or equivalent in the area of highway or traffic engineering and will be able to demonstrate your experience in road safety engineering and/or traffic engineering,
- Have obtained between three
- and eight-years' of experience in similar role
- Experience with programme management methodologies,
- An awareness and understanding of the Safe System approach,
- Knowledge and understanding of the applicability and effectiveness of potential safety improvements and
- An understanding of key data sources (CAS, RAMM, High speed data, KiwiRAP) is preferable
