As a **Process and Safety Engineer**, you will be based in **Auckland**, **NZ** reporting to the Operations Manager and will guide focused improvements on Lean Manufacturing, Absolute Material Utilisation (AMU), Productivity Cycle-time and shop floor improvements. You will also promote Process Safety Management (PSM) activities working with EHS and Plant personnel to identify programs, or strategies to help locations comply with PSM regulations, PPG’s Global PSM requirements and Good Engineering Practices.

**Responsibilities**
- Absolute Material Utilisation (AMU) improvement to reduce overall cost and improve the efficiency of the total operation.
- Process Optimization / Standard Costing using 6 Sigma Principles, Continuous Improvement and LEAN tools.
- Product Transfer & Scale-Up into Manufacturing while establishing production batch ticket templates collaborating with Technical to ensure standardisation within technologies.
- Design equipment and processes for our products and technologies from inception through commissioning and end use. Includes costing, capital authorization, establishing operating procedures and operator training.
- Develop new and improved manufacturing methods while benchmarking the manufacturing process with the main Coatings Production Centres around the world.
- Process Safety Applicability to ensure the process been classified correctly as per requirement.
- Process Hazard Analysis to lead PHA Study and track the actions.
- Equipment Integrity to identify all critical equipment and ensure the integrity test are conducted.
- Ensure all the critical equipment are well maintained with preventive maintenance support.
- Train/Provide plant wide PSM awareness to all employees / contractor.
- Ensure all work instructions comply to EHSMS Element 6 requirement
- Ensure all bulk tank fitting comply with PPG FSLT Requirements and safety features are maintained and inspected on periodical basis.

**Qualifications**
- Background in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or advanced degree in EHS field, chemistry, engineering, or related science with relevant experience in an EHS discipline. Relevant certifications required.
- Attainment of production procedures, quality procedures, and equivalent production equipment that results in quality products being supplied in ANZ.
- Knowledgeable about customer requirements and works with the technical and production product launch activities (including 1st lot process), and process in manufacturing plant.
- Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control tools
- Knowledgeable and experienced in the use of Business Process Improvement tools, including Lean, Sigma Logic.
- Functional expert level of knowledge in a specialisation of EHS.
