The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

We have the opportunity available to join our National Public Health Service in a senior role as **Head of Business Services. **The primary purpose of the role is to lead the National Public Health Service's Business Services function. Provide high quality, strategically focused advice, insights and innovative thought leadership across the work programmes to advance the long-term direction to NPHS.

The role would see you provide strong people management and effective operational leadership to support the business services team, including advisory services, government services, risks management, health and safety and project management. This includes building and sustaining relationships at local, regional, and national level and providing national leadership of business services while supporting regional coordination.

You someone with proven experience in successfully developing and maintaining a structured approach to managing a wide range of stakeholder and professional relationships both internally and externally. You have a sound knowledge of health and safety legislation and experience successfully leading diverse teams through change and achieving improved results while navigating a highly nuanced and complex system.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- A relevant tertiary qualification in an area relevant to health or the public sector or comparable/extensive experience working at a senior leadership level
- 5 - 10 years experience in the performance monitoring and reporting, managing relationships with external monitoring agencies plus proven experience in managing and developing reporting systems and processes
- Proven experience managing an office and business supports
- Able to demonstrate experience in leading and managing within an organisation where a high level of organisational acumen and political nous was required to create and deliver a strategic plan together with a multi-layered operating model
- Senior level experience in a secretariat or governance type function, with ability to understand and provide advice on complex organisational governance issue
- Sound knowledge of Machinery of Government and State Sector processes and systems, including government accountability processes
