We are looking for a skilled Employment Law Expert to join our team at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, providing employment law support across the full spectrum of employment & industrial law issues faced by HNZ.

This role offers a unique opportunity to practice in-house in employment law and work in a supportive and collegial team environment. As an Employment Law Expert, you will be responsible for providing critical thinking and sound judgment to develop options, provide advice, and translate this into meaningful advice and solutions.

You will have experience providing representation to clients in mediation, the Employment Relations Authority, and Employment Court, and possess analytical skills which can be constructively applied to a wide range of employment-related legal topics and human behaviour generally.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or be committed to starting their journey and taking ownership of their learning and growth.

About the Role:

  • Provide employment law support across the full spectrum of employment & industrial law issues faced by HNZ
  • Support the Te Waipounamu region as the central point of contact for employment & industrial law issues arising in the region
  • Contribute to national programmes of work

About You:

  • 7+ years PQE in providing employment law advice and representation to clients
  • Critical thinking, sound judgment, and analytical skills
  • Experience providing representation to clients in mediation, the Employment Relations Authority, and Employment Court
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori

$120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
