Role Overview

This is a critical role that requires strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, and expertise in human resources policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing timely and efficient advice on HR policies, procedures, and best practices to managers, team leaders, and supervisors.
  • Assisting in resolving employment disputes and offering support for performance assessments.
  • Contributing to the development and application of HR policies and procedures, while participating in change management and improvement initiatives.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including union representatives and public sector agencies.
  • Managing HR tasks proactively, escalating issues when necessary, and ensuring compliance with DOC's standards.
  • Collaborating with Senior HR Advisors to update and develop role descriptions as needed.

Requirements:

  • A solid understanding of human resources, employment legislation, and best practices.
  • Ability to analyze situations and provide practical solutions to HR challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people.
  • A tertiary qualification in HR, a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within teams and with external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of the Maori-Crown relationship and ability to integrate te reo and tikanga Maori in daily work.
