Job Description

The role of a District Nurse at Te Whatu Ora is to provide high-quality, patient-focused care to individuals in their homes. This involves working closely with other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive services. The ideal candidate will have excellent assessment skills, be able to work autonomously, and possess strong communication skills.

About the Team/Service
District nurses play a vital role in providing nursing services to patients throughout the Waikato region. Our teams work from various bases across the district, and the successful applicant will be required to work effectively within a team and adapt to different settings. Some key responsibilities include advanced wound management, palliative care, and liaison with other healthcare professionals.

Required Skills and Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must hold a current New Zealand registered nurse practicing certificate, have a full current NZ driver's license with no restrictions, and a minimum of three years of experience as a registered nurse. Previous district nursing experience or an advanced knowledge in wound management would be advantageous. You will also need to demonstrate sensitivity to cultural aspects and apply Treaty of Waitangi principles in practice. An orientation program will be provided, and we are open to negotiating the start date.
