**Te āhuatanga a te tūranga/About the Role**

The Manager, Partnerships reports to the Director, Te Kāhui Hīkina and is a Tier 4 people manager position in Te Kāhui Hīkina. This kāhui supports the work of Te Arawhiti by providing support to the Crown to build its capability to be a true Treaty partner. Its focus is on:

- supporting national Māori Crown events and statues to recognise significant leaders
- support the National Iwi Chairs Forum
- ensuring that public sector engagement with Māori is meaningful and brokering partnerships
- Implement engagement strategies and provide engagement advice
- Implement the framework to assess the health of the Māori Crown relationship
- As a member of Te Arawhiti's wider people management group, the Manager, Partnerships will take an activity role in ensuring the effectiveness of the management group. All Tier 4 people managers are expected to work across other Kāhui and Hāpai to ensure a consistent and collaborative approach to the work of Te Arawhiti.

The Manager, Partnerships is responsible for ensuring the delivery of the work programme for their team and the wider Hāpai /Kāhui to enable Te Arawhiti to achieve its strategic goals, and other tasks as tasked by their Director. This means leading engagement activity with Māori, supporting the development of enduring relationships and monitoring the health of the Māori Crown Relationship and ensuring the team:

- supports formal partnerships
- engages with Māori to develop partnership pathways
- supports other agencies with engaging Māori on ‘hard' issues, eg 5G
- supports Whai Hononga - events and statues
- monitors the health of the Māori Crown Relationship
- develops partnerships tools, resources and guidelines

The Manager, Partnerships is responsible for attracting, retaining and develop individuals to teams across the Hāpai and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships including with Māori.

- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience

Work experience
- Knowledge of government structures and processes, and obligations or a public servant
- Experience with Crown-Māori policy perspectives and frameworks
- Experience working and relating well with a wide range of people and working effectively in both an individual and team situation
- A management style underpinned by the ability to achieve outcomes through influence, collaboration and partnering with others
- Experience working under pressure and meet deadlines
- High level of self-motivation and initiative to set and achieve goals.

- Excellent attention to detail, time management and planning skills
- Understanding of Government financial systems and reporting
