The Chief Ombudsman works with his staff to help New Zealanders in their dealings with government agencies. The focus is on handling complaints against government agencies, undertaking investigations and inspections, and encouraging good administration. The Chief Ombudsman is independent and impartial, with the goal of fairness for all.
Mō te tūranga - About the roles
The Disability Rights team supports the role of the Ombudsmen as part of the Independent Monitoring Mechanism (IMM) under the Disability Convention. A key part of our vision is to break down barriers that prevent disabled people from participating equally in society.
The Programme and Administration Officer DRT will provide administrative and coordination support for key project initiatives in the DRT work programme and day-to-day operations of the team.
This is a busy role providing administrative and coordination support. We are looking for someone who is reliable and organised with great communication skills, and attention to detail, and who thrives in a collegial team environment. We are also looking for solid administration skills, including writing and data entry, and an analysis, problem solving mindset.
This role is based in Auckland and fixed term until April 2025.

**To be successful in othis role you will have**:

- Significant experience in a similar administration and programme coordination role.
- Understanding and experience with project management methodology.
- Superior planning and organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- The ability to work effectively across multiple projects and activities in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills with a willingness to contribute to a constructive, positive team environment.
- High level of integrity, discretion and resilience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced MS Office Excel skills

The Office of the Ombudsman encourages and supports all our workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Depending on skills and experience the salary is expected to be between $54,388 to $73,358.
Please note some travel may be required for this position.
