**Mō tēnei tūranga - about the role**

We are seeking a Principal Advisor to work within the Workplace Relations Directorate.

Within this Directorate there are two main focus areas, Workforce Relations and Union Relationships/Collective Bargaining. The Principal Advisor is expected to work across both, however you will naturally specialise and work in one area more than the other.

In this Principal Advisor role you will focus on Employee/Workforce Relations, in which you will provide a structured approach to maintaining positive relationships with employees and volunteers. This includes legislative people matters, managing and resolving grievances and advising managers on corrective action.

The salary band for this role is $148,798 - $165,332 per annum + matched KiwiSaver employer contributions of up to 6%.

**Ko tāu nā i tēnei tūranga - what you’ll bring to the role**

As someone confident working with diverse stakeholders, you will bring your expert employment law knowledge and ability to provide advice on employment relations issues to this role. You will be a resilient person, able to build rapport and relationships with others quickly, and be willing to jump in and problem solve to develop and implement positive solutions.

To be successful in this role, ideally you will have:

- A relevant tertiary qualification e.g. Bachelor of Laws.
- Previous experience in employment law, particularly New Zealand employment law, relations, and practices.
- Excellent communication, mediation, and negotiation skills, and the ability to model the concept of good faith.
- Previous experience in overseeing and leading complex employment matters.
- The ability to work in a high-volume environment with good time management skills.
- Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders to develop and implement solutions.
- The ability to be strategic at a whole-of-organisation level.

**Ko te tono mai - how to apply**

**Applications close Tuesday 8 August**

**Please note: Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory for this role.**
