Our client Te Rūnanga o Ngā Wairiki - Ngāti Apa works on behalf of its whānau, hapū and iwi leading the iwi response to climate change, protecting and growing biodiversity within the rohe through various ventures. Operating since 1989, the Rūnanga has made significant gains following the completion of Treaty settlements, including management of returned assets and investment into local ventures including horticulture, apiculture and a range of social and taiao programmes.
**About the Role**:
Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, the primary focus of this role is to provide support with day-to-day financial administration, being responsible for accounts (payable and receivables) and general office administration to facilitate accuracy and efficiency while ensuring a high level of financial compliance. Initiative to fine tune processes and systems is a key part of this role. The role will be the first point of contact so a focus on customer service will also be needed. In the role you will be responsible for:
Daily bank account reconciliations and month end reconciliations
Debtor control
Creditors (entry and payments)
Preparation of monthly GST returns
Assist Group Finance Manager with budget preparation and monthly and year-end financial reports
Ensure internal controls are maintained including compliance with tax and legal requirements
General administration support to the Business Unit Managers including developing SOPs, filing and maintaining the customer databases
Assisting and championing with the implementation of new systems
Management of the Annual Fixed Asset Register
Payroll processing
Customer service including proactive response to customer/supplier inquiries and ensuring g positive relationships with all stakeholders is maintained
**About you**:
Preferably a relevant qualification in accounting with 3+ years’ experience in both AP/AR
Knowledge of accounting systems (preferably Xero)
Intermediate/advanced knowledge of MS Office including Excel
Experience with payroll
Have a natural focus on timeliness and accuracy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Be able to work effectively in a team
Evidence of driving practical improvements in efficiencies, operations and systems
Proactive, being able to show initiative, being flexible but holding high standards at all times.
Knowledge of tikanga and developing knowledge of Te Reo with a commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
