**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

We are on the hunt for a Technical Accounting Manager to provide technical accounting assurance for Contact. You will provide effective commercial and technical accounting leadership, leading a team of people who act as an advisory arm within the Finance Team. They focus on the technical side of accounting, ensuring that we have a centre of excellence that delivers high quality financial accounting advice.

This position sits within our Finance & Risk team and reports directly to our Head of Financial Services. It will work closely with other members of the Finance team including external auditors, and our Board and Audit & Risk Committee. Plus, you’ll get to advise our CFO.

Some of the key tasks are;
- Deliver best practice external financial reporting that supports Contact’s position as a leading integrated energy business and NZX listed company.
- Direct and ensure timely and accurate production of external statutory financial accounts and regulatory requirements.
- Complete annual impairment testing over cash generating units.
- Prepare and present Board and Audit & Risk Committee papers, providing periodic director training.
- Manage the accounting for commodity derivatives, treasury, employee share schemes, leases, acquisitions and other technical accounting positions, driving process automation and improvement.
- Ensure Contact’s compliance in relation to the Statistics NZ returns, debt covenant reporting and Green Borrowing Programme.
- Manage the external audit relationship and process, and support other assurance engagements such as sustainability assurance.
- Lead financial reporting considerations on mergers & acquisitions as well as other growth projects, initiatives and new products.

You’ll have plenty of stories to share with us where your expert commercial and technical knowledge, and financial reporting skills has led organisations to success.

You pride yourself in your strong analytics skills and attention to detail and are quick to identify issues and opportunities.

You thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment and are comfortable fielding queries from all directions. You work well under pressure, are confident dealing with tight timeframes and can change tact when things don’t go according to plan.

This role supports a complex group of internal and external stakeholders and your ability to connect and influence will be a key element in building trust. You must have strong communication and presentation skills to achieve this. You will be comfortable in front of any audience and can clearly explain financial information in a way that non-technical folk can understand.

This position offers a lot of scope for growth and presents the opportunity to get involved in projects outside BAU.
- CA qualification and at least 5 years post qualification financial accounting experience.
- Experience in regulatory reporting compliance of NZX listed corporates.
- Knowledge of international finance reporting standards.
- Indepth understanding of NZ GAAP and IFRS, including NZ IFRS 9 Financial Instruments.
