**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The Office of the National Director, Hospital and Specialist Services (HSS) provides strategic advice and support to the National Director and wider HSS leadership team to support the delivery of high-quality health services that deliver on the reform promise and build trust and confidence in New Zealand's HSS system. Specialist Mental Health and Addiction services within HSS deliver to those who have the highest level of need in our communities. This function will focus on the timely provision of information to a variety of audiences including the public, and delivering on our statutory obligations, including under the Official Information Act.
The Principal Advisor Specialist Mental Health and Addiction role is to lead HSS advice, working closely with the Director, Specialist Mental Health and Addiction and the advisor team to deliver high-quality and timely advice to Ministers, the Board, ELT and HSS SLT.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years senior policy experience in central government
- Leadership experience, including designing and managing a portfolio of work, and resources.
- A preference for experience in working across multi-disciplinary teams.
- An interest in Mental Health and Addiction
