**About the role**:
The Principal Advisor enables the functions of ICT to operate efficiently and effectively, by providing advice within and across the directorate, supporting the services of the ICT Business Office, providing thought leadership, and driving continuous improvement.
The Principal Advisor is responsible for the provision of high-quality advice to the Chief Information and Technology Officer, the ICT Leadership Team, ICT Managers, and ICT Team Leaders, as well as providing advice and mentoring to colleagues as needed across the Directorate. The position provides peer review, advice and support in the following areas:
- Assurance
- Process improvement
- Risk, issue, benefit, investment, asset and financial management
- Alignment of ICT services to the National Strategy, business plans, values, standards, frameworks and guidelines
- Alignment to Government, ICT industry, and organizational frameworks and standards
**What you’ll bring to the role**:
- Substantial experience in analysis, consultation and engagement, stakeholder management and interaction with decisions makers.
- Experience leading with through influencing other stakeholders.
- Strategic and intellectual leadership. A strong understanding of the machinery of government, and planning and performance functions.
- Ability to use advanced Excel and other reporting suites to produce numerical and written reports in a clear and concise manner. Demonstrated ability to construct effective business plans and financial forecasts, develop performance and programme and project benefit and measures, analyze performance data and facilitate performance improvement initiatives at an organizational level.
- Promotes and models ethical behaviour consistent with Fire and Emergency New Zealand’s organizational values.
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
