**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

The Equity business unit was established to undertake robust implementation science research on key interventions to address the Life Expectancy gap between Māori and non-Māori, between Pacific and non-Pacific, and other key prioritised interventions. We support the development of equity frameworks.

On a day-to-day basis, you will use your networking and collaboration skills to build relationships that deliver and improve equity for Māori communities nationally in the planning, research and implementation of work from the Health Equity Team. You will liaise with people within localities, regions, Te Whatu Ora, Te Aka Whai Ora, IMPBs, Māori providers and academic institutions to ensure alignment in response to equity principles and Te Tiriti o Waitangi across Māori population health priorities and outcomes.

You will be responsible for leading and conducting Kaupapa Māori studies/analysis, and working with others to conduct or facilitate research as agreed across the Health Equity Team. You will also work across the Health Equity Team to provide mentoring and support for Research based roles as required.

**This role is internal and open to existing Te Whatu Ora or Te Aka Whai Ora employees only.**

**Mōu | About you**

You will be passionate about using research to improve the health outcomes and opportunities for Māori and Pacific people in Aotearoa, and you will have experience in health research and in-depth knowledge of Kaupapa Māori research methods and processes.

You will be required to work with a diverse range of teams and audiences in this role so you will need to be an excellent communicator who is able to engage with stakeholders across the organisation and sector.

You will be a strong leader with the ability to manage and support people effectively, and your previous experience in managing projects will enable you and the teams you're working with to meet project deliverables on time and to a high standard.

- Tertiary level qualification in health or research or project management fields
- Quality and risk management, including incident management, in a health programme
- Project management experience
- Mentoring and people management experience
- Understanding of the health systems and health priorities for populations and the regions
