**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The National Tikanga Advisor is a senior member of the Hospital and Specialist Services team providing leadership for the development and implementation of te reo Māori and tikanga Māori while fostering cultural understanding, and respectful engagement among teams across the health sector and diverse communities. Working in partnership with the Director Māori Services and colleagues at Te Aka Whai Ora, this role will play a pivotal part in facilitating access to cultural guidance, mentorship, and training, as well as influencing the strategic integration of te reo Māori and tikanga Māori across the H&SS teams and the broader health sector.
In this role, you will provide strategic and cultural leadership as part of the Māori Services across Hospital and Specialist Services, in partnership with the Director, Māori Services and colleagues at Te Aka Whai Ora, champion tikanga led engagement that enhances the relationship model and ensure delivery of an effective te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, and mātauranga Māori programmes of work across Te Whatu Ora. You will also collaboratively engage with Regional Directors and their senior teams.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- Bachelor's Degree or other relevant qualification, or comparable experience working at senior management level in a hospital setting Minimum of three years policy experience in a range of central government agencies
- Experience in leading transformational systems change with respect to implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Māori leadership experience and ability to work with and influence senior leaders and decision-makers to achieve organisational objectives.
