The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Te Whatu Ora, works towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

Antenatal and newborn screening is made up of three programmes, spanning from the first trimester of pregnancy through to six months of age. The purpose of these is to enable early diagnosis and interventions to improve long-term outcomes for developing children and ensure parents and whānau can make informed choices.

We have a 12 month fixed term, full-time opportunity available to join our Antenatal and Childhood Screening team as a** Service Improvement Implementation Manager**. Initially this role will be completely focussed on the addition of Spinal Muscular Atrophy to the Newborn Metabolic Screening Programme (NMSP), and then more broadly incorporating and aligning multiple quality and equity initiatives across the group's work programme.

**Mōu | About you**

You are someone with in-depth knowledge and experience of antenatal and newborn screening programmes, in particular the NMSP. You will be able to “hit the ground running” and lead the implementation of the addition of Spinal Muscular Atrophy to the NMSP. This role requires significant project and risk management experience and an ability to mentor and coach others in this area. It will require someone with a strengths in relationship management, facilitating change and who has experience in engaging confidently with a range of sector groups and agencies. You also bring skill in data analytics and problem solving, recognizing the importance of collaboration in being able to achieve quality improvement.

- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience with in-depth knowledge and experience with antenatal and newborn national screening programmes
- Proven thought leadership and experience in senior roles in central government
- Proven strategic leadership skills that support the design, development, and implementation of service improvement and quality initiatives
- Political savviness and awareness, knowing what is important to key stakeholders
- Comfortable working in complex environments and with a range of diverse stakeholders, both internal and external
- Able to manage relationships at all levels and across organisations fostering good stakeholder relationships through consultation and partnership
- You have sound judgement, discretion and the proven ability to work under pressure
