Our client is strengthening its Climate Group to ensure the successful delivery of its cimate change work programme, which is focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to a changing climate.

We are looking for a talented Manager to drive and lead the market governance assurance work programme for the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). The ETS is the core pillar of the governments’ climate change mitigation response, and billions of dollars are traded annually.

Key areas of focus of the role include:

- leading the design and implementation of the ETS market assurance and governance framework to ensure it is fit for purpose
- identifying, managing and mitigating the current risks of the ETS market system

You will guide the strategic direction, pace, and delivery of the work programme, as well as setting the team’s vision and work towards building a highly engaged, cohesive culture, with a strong emphasis on wellbeing, diversity and inclusiveness.

An exciting part of this role will be building the team and sharing your expertise to build capability and strengthen the quality of our policy advice.

- an understanding of governance and assurance of financial products, or operational experience in complex regulatory areas
- an understanding of market conduct/misconduct risk and general risk assurance principles and frameworks
- exceptional people leadership, with a focus on delivering through others
- strategic leadership and intellectual capability
- excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to deliver through partnerships
- ideally have an understanding of market economics, market behaviour and market analysis
- commitment to developing your cultural capability and capacity in te ao Māori.
