Transitioning Auckland's transport network on such a mammoth scale is no mean feat and we need a talented team to ensure we are up to this task.

**The Manager - Climate Transition** reports to the Chief Scientist and will be responsible for:

- leading the Climate Transition team.
- climate transition planning for AT and supporting climate transition planning for the Auckland Council group.
- assessment and management of climate-related risks and opportunities.
- delivery of Auckland Transport's greenhouse gas inventory and associated reporting.
- oversight of the electric vehicle program.
- embedding sustainability in systems, processes, and policy across Auckland Transport to ensure consistent practice.
- oversight of sustainability related information, education, storytelling, and specialist advice.

The purpose of this role is to support the transition to a low-emission, climate resilient organisation capable of meaningfully contributing to the transition to a climate resilient region.

**Te Whiwhinga mahi - The Opportunity**
- Lead the Climate Transition team to guide and enable and set the direction and pace for the climate transition and support effective governance.
- Preparing and presenting high quality, well evidenced strategies, plans, polices and reports to support decisions on strategic direction and how the climate transition is achieved by Auckland Transport.
- Engage with the Government and Council on their climate change and sustainability strategic direction and facilitate its integration in AT's policy and strategy and across AT's capital and operational programmes.
- Drive delivery of climate change and sustainability programme initiatives and communicate delivery risks and trade-offs.
- Engage with teams across the AT to foster alignment and understanding of programme objectives.
- Drive and enable climate change and sustainability communications within the business to enable our people to contribute and understand our role and activities and raise external awareness about AT's progress and commitment.

**Ko koe tēnei | About you**
- Excellent understanding of climate change / greenhouse gas emissions.
- Substantial experience in central or local government, in strategy/policy **and **implementation roles.
- Good understanding and knowledge of local government legislation (including specific Auckland related legislation), council practices and constraints in Auckland.
- Demonstrated experience in teams delivering cross-functional or cross-agency strategic initiatives.
- Experience of working within a political environment and engaging in public consultation processes.
- Understanding of risk management
- Employment history demonstrating experience in the fields of sustainability policy / strategy; climate risk management and/or climate-transition planning.
- Relevant degree
- Post-graduate qualification
