This is an ideal role for an HR or legal graduate with a couple of years experience who wants to establish themselves in the People & Capability department of a large, complex organisation.

**THE PEOPLE & CAPABILITY (P&C) TEAM**

The P&C team at Ventia in New Zealand are a small, close-knit, friendly and supportive group. HR at VENTIA is a shared service that supports every division of our business throughout the country. VENTIA is a very diverse company, both in terms of the make-up of our teams and the types of work that we do. We work closely with our colleagues in Australia which gives our roles in HR an international dimension, and because of the variety and complexity of the industries we work in, there is a consistent flow of new and varied challenges. As a member of the Shared Services team you will also benefit from working with an experienced and supportive group of senior mentors.

**YOU**

This will probably be your 2nd or 3rd job. In previous HR roles you will have built your knowledge of NZ employment legislation and also gained experience in advising managers in relation to ER related queries. You will need excellent interpersonal skills to build good working relationships and communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. You will need to be resilient enough to work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment. You will also need to be interested in developing beyond this role into a higher level advisory role within the HR service centre.

**THE ROLE**

In this role, you will be responsible for the provision of first-level human resource/employee relations advice, case management to the business and human resources team and for assisting in building basic employee relations knowledge and capability amongst the users of the HR Service Centre.

This role will sit in the People and Capability Advisory Team, with the flexibility of working from home or from the Ventia Freeman's Bay Office - conveniently located near public transport and local shops.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Drive a culture of delivering customer value.
- Working with difference stakeholders, being the 1st line of support and providing positive outcomes for the business
- Carry out all work activities upholding the Company values of Integrity, Ingenuity, Collaboration and Challenge.
- Actively participate in the Performance and Development Review process.

- Carry out all duties in line with Ventia’s policies and procedures

**Key Experiences & Skills**
- Qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related discipline
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar People & Capability role
- Experience in managing employee and industrial relations issues
- Strong understanding of employment legislation and as well as the ability to interpret industrial instruments
- Experience in collaborative and consultative processes at a professional level.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong communications - both written communication
- An ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders
