**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity***

The National Travel Assistance (NTA) Scheme provides critical financial assistance for people who need to travel for treatments like cancer, renal dialysis, diagnostics or other complex care that can't be provided locally. Travel and accommodation can be a barrier to receiving care for some patients and whānau. This scheme is one mechanism to help address that.

The Scheme has some significant improvements planned to make it more responsive and better tailored to those that need it most. The role of the National Manager NTA is to lead and coordinate those changes in collaboration with others as well as oversight and management of the scheme.

Planned changes include easier pre-payment and claiming options, eligibility changes to better target those in need, better integration with NGOs and more promotion and awareness of the scheme. It also includes the consolidation of budgets nationally to better track expenditure, utilisation and insights. These will be overseen by a national reference group with strong equity input, which will be supported by the Manager.

Key management tasks include programme oversight and budget management as well as broad engagement and communications. This is both internally (nationally, regionally and locally) as well as externally with NGOs and other community providers.

**Mōu | About you**

You're a highly skilled, organised and experienced senior manager who has the ability to deliver large change programmes while maintaining sound operational management. You have proven experience creating positive and productive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders with the ability to think ahead, use initiative, establish priorities, and meet deadlines while maintaining high levels of accuracy and confidentiality.

- A relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience
- At least 3-5 years experience running large programmes with a strong equity focus
- Experience creating positive and productive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders
- Project or programme management experience
- Experience coordinating the development of policy advice including financial forecasts and scenarios
- Experience using consumer and whānau experience to inform and drive change
