**Tēnei tūranga - About the role**:
A new position has been established within the Investment Operations team creating an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of the investment processes for the ‘Expanding the Impact of Vision Mātauranga’ initiative.
The initiative aims to create a sustainable Māori research and science workforce and making research fit-for-purpose for Rangahau Māori and Mātauranga Māori through investments organised around the following themes:

- Talent - attract and grow Māori talent in the RSI system.
- Navigate - enable Māori to better navigate and participate in the RSI system.
- Investment - fund Māori-led RSI.

The initiative symbolises a commitment from the Crown to invest in growing and building Māori-led Research, Science and Innovation (RSI). The initiative is an incremental action in the pursuit of honouring Te Tiriti in RSI by providing dedicated and effective investment in Māori-led RSI.

The Investment Operations team works in partnership with other teams within the Science System Investment and Performance branch to plan and operationalise science investment processes.

As a Senior Investment Coordinator, you will support planning and coordination of investment processes, support and improve business processes, and advise fund teams on operational options for investment processes. You will also provide training and support to other coordinators to develop their timeline planning and coordination skills, while following the best practice in funding and contracting.

- Willingness to learn and develop an understanding of Te Ao Māori and Tikanga
- A proven track record of experience in project planning and coordination, and providing business support to manage funding and contracting processes
- Great attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Excellent relationship management and collaboration skills, able to manage positive relationships with people at all levels in the organisation
- Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbally) with a wide range of stakeholders
- A proactive, solution focused work style with a strong customer service focus and delivery
- Be comfortable with the ambiguity that change brings as we remain agile to a changing funding environment, demonstrating your resilience, multi-tasking skills and experience

**About the Science System Investment and Performance branch**:
We are responsible for the full range of functions that supports New Zealand's science and research system. We make, manage, assess and advise on a range of scientific investments to meet New Zealand's economic, social and environmental ambitions.
- Through a portfolio approach, based on broad scientific knowledge within the branch, and the contribution of specialised expertise from the sector (e.g. through Panels and assessors)
- Through sector stewardship, working as a credible partner and neutral broker within the sector and across government to facilitate frank discussions and identify opportunities
- As a smart operator, with both scientific and government sector credibility, and the ability to marry these to find practical solutions
- By being the expert on best practice and running efficient, clear processes
