Four new positions have been established within the Science System Investment and Performance Branch creating an exciting opportunity to lead the investment process for the ‘Expanding the Impact of Vision Mātauranga’ initiative.
Expanding the Impact of Vision Mātauranga aims to attract and grow Māori talent in the Research, Science and Innovation sector enabling Māori to better navigate and participate in the research system.
The initiative aims to create a sustainable Māori research and science workforce and making research fit-for-purpose for Rangahau Māori and Mātauranga Māori through investments organised around the following themes:

- Talent - attract and grow Māori talent in the RSI system.
- Navigate - enable Māori to better navigate and participate in the RSI system.
- Investment - fund Māori-led RSI.

The initiative symbolises a commitment from the Crown to invest in growing and building Māori-led Research, Science and Innovation (RSI). The initiative is an incremental action in the pursuit of honouring Te Tiriti in RSI by providing dedicated and effective investment in Māori-led RSI.

The Expanding the Impact of Vision Mātauranga initiative has 5 funding schemes:

- Kanapu Programme
- He tipu ka hua fund
- He aka ka toro fund
- Ngā Puanga Pūtaiao Fellowships
- Te Ara Pōtiki

Along with the Principal Investment Manager Māori, the new positions will be responsible for driving and leading a portfolio of investment functions and provide expert sector knowledge. These new roles will support the development of other funds as they relate to Vision Mātauranga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. This includes liaising with other groups within MBIE as well as external stakeholders, delivering complex investment processes and relationships, and contributing to branch strategy development.

**Tēnei tūranga - About the Role**:

- This is an exciting opportunity to join the Strategic Investments Operations team in the Science System Investment and Performance branch, to work in partnership with the Investment Managers to enable the Government’s investment to achieve successful science outcomes.
- As a Senior Programme Coordinator, you will lead the planning and coordination of various processes to support the initiative. You will also contribute to improve business processes and advise on best practice.
- Key will be your ability to work as part of a team that will work closely with Māori in the design, implementation and delivery of the initiative.

Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required
- Experience in project management and project delivery.
- Excellent understanding of team collaboration and what it means to be Kaupapa driven.
- Experience in planning, coordination, providing business support to manage funding and contracting processes
- An ability to engage externally with Māori organisations and build genuine relationships.
- Can do attitude with excellent time management and organisational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbally) with a wide range of stakeholders
- Excellent relationship management and collaboration skills, able to manage positive relationships with people at all levels in the organisation
- having an understanding of Te Ao Māori and Tikanga
- An ability to communicate in Te Re Māori would be desirable
- Be comfortable with ambiguity that change brings as we remain agile to a changing funding environment, demonstrating your resilience, multi-tasking skills and experience
- An understanding of government processes
