**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

The Manager Mātauranga Māori will lead the Mātauranga Māori team to develop and deliver innovative services that improve access to Māori taonga, stories, research, information and expertise.

This role sits on the leadership teams of the Māori Outcomes Delivery Unit where you’ll contribute to the leadership of the unit, helping to shape culture, embed vision and contribute to strategic direction. This role also works closely with the Library and Learning services unit to provide support and advice in support of kaupapa Māori research, heritage taonga and the development of Māori collections.

Collaborating across the Connected Communities department and beyond you will develop, foster, and promote a working and dynamic understanding of mātauranga Māori in relation to the department’s role and responsibilities particularly in the care of taonga and providing information services.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

You are passionate about mātauranga Māori and the potential for developing new areas of expertise and enhancing existing knowledge. You will have confidence and fluency in te reo Māori, planning and programme/project management, and a track record of delivering with innovative, strategic, and practical thinking.

You are able to negotiate and influence across a wide range of stakeholders. Your political acumen and understanding of mana whenua, mataawaka, the GLAM sector as well as local government will be key to your success in this role. You have excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. Your work is grounded in te ao Māori including te reo me ōna tikanga.
