Māori Capability Lead
- Lead the strategic approach to building and embedding cultural capacity across the Ministry;
- Provide high quality Capability and Development advice and delivery focusing on te ao māori
- Provide strategic direction, leadership and management of the Māori Capability Team.

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

He tūranga hou tēnei ki te manatū, ā, he tūranga whakahirahira kia whakanui i te mātauranga māori ki te manatū nei. Nāu e ārahi i te tīma Capability ki rō I to tātou nei rōpū hou o te Poutāiki. Nā te mahi tahi me te rōpū Kura Tangata, ka whakararau koe i ngā hua māori ki rō i te oranga mahi a ngā kaimahi. Nāu anō e ārahi I ētahi kaupapa e hāngai atu ki ngā rautaki mahi ā te manatū, anō hoki te whanaketanga a ngā kaimahi kia tū te manatū hei wāhi mahi tutuki pai, hei wāhi mahi haumaru hoki.

This is a new position at the Ministry and plays a critical role in Manatū Aorere’s continued uplift of Mātauranga Māori. As the Māori Capability Lead you will lead the capability team in the newly established Te Poutāiki division. Working closely with our People Division you will be ensuring Māori capability is embedded in our employee lifecycle. You will lead a range of organisational development and learning and development interventions to ensure MFAT is a high performing organisation and a great place to work.

**You will**:

- Track and measure the Mātauranga Māori initiatives to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Proactively elevate strategic Mātauranga
- Develop and maintain resources for use on Mātauranga Māori, te reo and pepeha
- Facilitate and focus strategic Mātauranga capability thinking at senior levels across the Ministry.
- Design, pilot, and deliver new and ongoing Mātauranga Māori organisational priorities

The salary range for this role is between $140,712 to $165,544 total remuneration, negotiable depending on skills and experience.
The total remuneration is inclusive of our 3% employer contribution.

Mā‎ wai te mahi nei? - Who are we looking for?

**The successful applicant should have**:

- Strong understanding of te ao Māori and Mātauranga Māori
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, including ability to prioritise tasks effectively and work under pressure.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Previous experience in a capability role involving Te Ao Māori thinking desirable
- Strong organisational and people management capacity Ideally you will also have a good understanding of tikanga (Māori customs and protocols), with the ability to weave te ao Māori (the Māori worldview) into your work.
