**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

The Māori Practice Lead is a new position that will define and uphold effective practice in relation to our delivery of outcomes for tamariki and whānau Māori as well as recognising and developing flax roots innovation. Your focus will be on creating the enabling conditions for the achievement of Māori outcomes and sharing best practice across the Connected Communities department.

If Māori development, service design and evaluation is your space, this is an exciting opportunity where you’ll have the remit to grow the departments capability to deliver on Auckland Council’s Māori Outcomes Performance Measurement framework, Kia Ora Tāmaki Makaurau by developing methods, tools, resources, effective practice and quality frameworks.

We are a unit that is continually looking for innovative ways to shape our practice and provide opportunities for growth and learning. We are looking for a practice extraordinaire to coach and develop colleagues.

The role sits on the lead team of the Māori Outcomes Delivery Unit, where you’ll contribute to the leadership of the unit, helping to shape culture, embed vision and contribute to strategic direction.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

To be successful you will ideally bring excellent communication skills including proficiency and confidence in te reo Māori and experience working with Māori communities. Planning and programme/project management as well as proven delivery of innovative, strategic, and practical thinking will be highly beneficial to this role.

With a background in Māori service design, innovation and evaluation, you’ll understand best practice and the challenges and opportunities for creating change and demonstrate the ability to lift and shift practice for better community outcomes. You will also monitor emerging practice trends and give advice on evidence-based mātauranga Māori approaches, providing information about their relevance to our mahi.
