**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

We are searching for a Māori Participation and Partnership Manager with excellent strategic relationship and communication skills to drive meaningful connections and partnerships with Māori. This role leads a team of 6 talented Māori specialists and reports to the Head of Māori Outcomes Delivery.

As a member of the leadership team of Te Waka Kerewai, the Māori Outcomes Delivery Unit for Connected Communities, you’ll contribute to the leadership of the unit, helping to shape culture, embed vision and contribute to strategic direction. Collaborating across the Connected Communities department and beyond you will develop, foster, and promote a working and dynamic understanding of Māori in Tāmaki Makaurau.

As the Māori Participation & Partnership Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving Māori strategic relationships, participation, and decision-making. Your leadership will be instrumental in building strong connections with the community and fostering a culture of innovation and co-design. You will actively contribute to the planning process, ensuring effective shared decision-making and providing valuable advice on mana whenua and mātāwaka engagement.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

We are looking for an influential leader with strong experience in relevant partnership and engagement mahi, with a proven track record as a people leader.

You will take a holistic approach to managing partnerships with Māori - seen in a te ao Māori context, backed by a strong degree of competency in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga.

You are able to negotiate and influence across a wide range of stakeholders. Your political acumen and understanding of mana whenua, mātāwaka, as well as local government will be key to your success in this role. You have excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

You will also bring:

- Experience with building excellent relationships with Māori in Tāmaki Makaurau
- Strategic thinking - you are politically aware, able to operate as an innovative and trusted strategic leader
- The ability to identify, develop, grow and pursue strategic funding opportunities in support of Māori Outcome deliverables
- A tertiary degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline is desirable.
