**Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role**

The Poutaki Taonga Māori is responsible for the leadership, people management, and operational management of a team of Kaiatawhai Taonga Māori. This role leads the team to ensure they effectively deliver prioritised project-based selection, acquisition, accessioning, arrangement, description, cataloguing, and rights clearance tasks in line with archival policies and standards across all Ngā Taonga collections.

The role is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of Collection Management workplans to ensure that Ngā Taonga can reach its strategic goals.

**Ko koe tēnei | About you**

You will be an experienced people leader, with a substantive background in Museum studies/ Information records/ Collection management (ideally within a kaupapa Māori environment). Your approach to Collection Management will be underpinned by your knowledge and appreciation of Mātauranga Māori. With the foundation of Mātauranga Māori, you will be confident in leading teams to embed and operationalise high quality tikanga-based practices and solutions for collection management work plans, whilst ensuring an overall alignment to strategic objectives.

- Tertiary Qualification in Mātauranga Māori, Te Reo Māori, Māori studies, or similar.
- Minimum three years people management experience in GLAM sector
- Some competency in te reo Māori.
- Experience working with iwi and Māori communities.
- Understanding of appropriate tikanga for handling taonga.
- Demonstrated commitment to archival ethos, practice and standards.
- High standard of relationship management and sector collaboration.
- Experienced in strategy and policy development.
- Experienced in project planning, development and implementation using recognised tools and practices.
