Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor
The Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor would join a team that is responsible for providing and managing an efficient and effective health, safety and environmental management system for the Upper Hutt and Whiteman’s Valley sites. This team champions the company HS&E culture, strategy and initiatives and has the responsibility for ensuring everyone is “Safe by Choice”. The Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor sits within the Global Safety & Environment organization and reports to the Director of Safety & Environment for the Asia Pacific Region.
**WHAT YOU WILL DO**
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:_
Manage Health, Safety and Environmental compliance by:
- Maintaining existing company HS&E systems, processes and procedures.
- Proactively drive compliance by completing assessments and implementing new HS&E regulatory requirements and corporate standards.
- Being the point of contact for new project activity to ensure HS&E compliance as part of change management.
- Managing HS&E incident / accident reporting and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Managing the Hazard ID system and risk registers.
- Conducting and participating in HS&E inspections and audits.
- Maintaining a HS&E training matrix and coordinate HS&E training requirements.
- Identifying improvements to the company’s HS&E systems.
- Being the point of contact for site staff, relevant regulatory bodies and the public on HS&E issues.
- Reporting of routine HS&E metrics to corporate and regulatory bodies.
- Maintaining the site chemical database and SDS systems.
- Managing waste management systems and resource consents for environmental discharges.
- Ensure the highest possible safety standards are met by:
- Supporting the investigation and resolution of incidents and accidents in a timely manner.
- Ensuring hazards are identified within the operational areas of the business and assist with the implementation of corrective actions.
- Participating in safety meetings. Chairing and keeping minutes for the meeting as required.
- Conducting staff and contractor safety inductions, overseeing contractor work and permit issuance to ensure it is performed in a safe and appropriate manner as required_._
- Ensure all documentation is accurately completed and closed, and ensure GMP standards are met by:
- Writing and technically reviewing manufacturing and laboratory Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensuring production and equipment housekeeping is maintained to standards set.
- Maintain all documentation in accordance with Company and relevant quality standards.
**WHAT YOU MUST HAVE**
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- NZ degree or diploma in a Health, Safety, Environmental or related discipline with relevant work experience.
- Minimum 5 years post tertiary related experience within a Health, Safety or Environmental Advisory position within the manufacturing environment
- Process experience in vaccine manufacturing or related field e.g. Pharmaceutical Manufacture, Dairy Industry, Brewing, Petrochemical or Pulp and Paper manufacture.
- Experience with GMP, GLP or ISO 9000 in a Production environment.
