About the role
Iwi and Community Prevention Team at Police National Headquarters is seeking a Senior Advisor to join the brand-new Health Partnerships Team. The primary focus of the role is the development of strategies and initiatives and working with our partners across the Motu in the Health space to bring closer cross-sector alignment and help with strategic direction.
We’re looking for someone skilled at fostering and maintaining partnerships and using these skills to develop and maintain collaborative strategic alliances with key partners.
You’ll be working across Police contributing to the development and implementation of projects to support their successful implementation within Districts.
Knowledge of the Health space, in particular the mental health space, from either a Police or external perspective is an advantage.
The most important assets you will bring will be innovative thinking and your ability to collaborate well in a dynamic team and combine these to bring to the table a well thought out position.
As Senior Prevention Partnerships Advisor - Health, you’ll be expected to take a leadership role within Police, helping, guiding, and empowering others to make their diverse communities safer.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Contribute to the development of Iwi & Community health strategies and initiatives that meet the needs of Māori, Pacific, ethnic and other communities.
- Work with the Iwi & Community team to identify and understand current and emerging issues in the mental health space and to help develop effective partnerships and strategies to reduce and prevent harm.
- Work across the sector to help increase the effectiveness of the Police response in the mental health space with the aim to reduce demand on Police but to still ensure persons in distress get a response they expect and deserve.
- Seek out and develop opportunities for Police to collaborate with others to understand the shared Police - Health space and foster and develop workstreams to manage and help resolve any identified problem areas, or prospects for positive growth.

You’ll be able to take ideas from conception to execution by identifying and overcoming barriers while keeping the end goal in mind.
For Police constabulary applicants, CPK to Senior Sergeant level is desired, but not essential. If successful, CPK will be required to be completed within 12 months of taking up the role, and the CEP leadership program commenced.
