**As a Senior Engineer, your responsibilities include**:

- Working closely with architects and designers to develop new products and services.
- Using your expertise to resolve incidents and problems.
- Coaching and mentoring your product team to drive improved engineering practices.
- Contributing to the growth of technical capability through active participation in communities of practice.

As part of the Defence Digital Group, you will use a range of technologies to support 14,000 personnel, many of whom are operating in geographically remote or hostile environments to protect your whanau, your country and our environment from harm.
This role is offered in Petone, Manawatu, Devonport or Burnham - please indicate your preference.
Once you have undergone training and are up to speed, flexible working arrangements can be discussed.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and Experience
Ideally you will have knowledge of, exposure to or a desire to learn the following:

- Deployment and management of Microsoft 0365, preferably in a Virtual Desktop environment.
- Application packaging tools and technologies (essential).
- Microsoft Storefront (desirable).
- Knowledge of Active Directory (desirable).

**Ideally you will have experience in the following**:

- IT change management.
- Capacity planning.
- Configuration management.
- SAFe Agile.
- IT Security.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications are advantageous.

**Ideally you will have some or all of the following**:

- Experience training and mentoring junior engineers.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to get to the root of an issue quickly.
- Good communication and coordination skills and able to work efficiently under pressure.
- Experience with software change and lifecycle management.
- Capacity planning.
- Configuration management.
- Thinking agile is a must.
- Strong willingness to share knowledge and learnings.
- Collaborative attitude.
- Excellent written and verbal communication both at a technical and business level.

Additionally, you must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance.
