Do you want to make a positive difference to the protection of New Zealand's border from serious threats, the facilitation of legitimate trade and travel, and the collection of customs and excise revenue on behalf of the Crown.

We have an opportunity for an experienced Programme Coordinator to provide high quality and timely administrative support to the Information Services (IS) team.

In addition, this role will also provide project governance support, financial system assistance and contractor on-boarding and off-boarding co-ordination.

Your responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Assisting project teams to develop and maintain programme documentation including programme reports, project plans, risk and issue registers and budget tracking;
  • Supporting quality assurance activities such as programme controls and audits;
  • Organising governance meetings, completing meeting minutes and following up on or completing agreed actions;
  • Analysing data and gathering requirements this can be in conjunction with IS projects or to assist with IT housekeeping and remediation tasks;
  • Providing assistance to IS Managers around creation of purchase orders, goods receipting and allocating monthly costs for vendor invoices;
  • Coordinating the onboarding and offboarding processes for contractors in IS including security clearances and equipment requests;
  • Working with IS Accountant to ensure monthend and yearend financial processes completed on schedule;
  • Working with external provider to manage software license compliance and renewals.

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • A love of IT and interest in learning new software and systems;
  • Proven experience in providing project or programme administration services to a manager and / or team;
  • Exceptional organisational skills including establishing priorities and meeting deadlines;
  • A focus on problem solving and using your initiative;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including an eye for detail to ensure the quality of your work;
  • A genuine commitment to providing a quality service to all customers;
  • Excellent relationship management skills, including the ability to engage at all levels of the organisation;
  • Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team;
  • Ideally, a flair for presenting information graphically.
Joining Customs
To join Customs in any role you must be a New Zealand citizen or NZ permanent resident*.

You must have a background history that is verifiable and can be, assessed as appropriate by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service towards a recommendation of suitability for security clearance at a higher level.

Due to the nature of Customs work, you must have a clear Police record. Successful applicants are also required to pass a drug test.
