Wellington City, New Zealand Transpower Full time

Are you an aspiring Project Manager with project coordination experience?
- Support essential programme monitoring and control, finances, and reporting
- Intellectually stimulating work; work closely with our Portfolio Delivery Manager
- Assist a varied, interesting work programme that will support the future of the energy market and help enable a net carbon zero future_

As New Zealand's System Operator at the heart of the electricity sector, we operate the power system and connect the generators of electricity with electricity retailers (who on-sell it to consumers) through the wholesale electricity market.

We manage the flow of that electricity across Transpower's high-voltage transmission network to each of the twenty-nine local lines companies that supply individual homes and businesses across their low-voltage networks. We also carry electricity to large industrial customers connected directly to the national grid.

A key part of our role is to ensure that electricity supply and demand are in balance at all times, and to manage voltage and frequency on the grid to ensure it remains consistently stable enabling New Zealanders access to the electricity they need, every second of every day.

**About the team**

The System Operator Operations Process and Technology Improvement (OPTI) Group is responsible for development and support of technologies and process improvements that enable and transform our operational activities and our capability to manage risk to meet service expectations.

The team supports the delivery of Transpower's strategic priorities by developing technology plans with our Information Services Technology (IST) division to evolve our grid and system operational services and monitor and manage assets and service provider interactions. Responsible for the Operations projects portfolio, the team works closely with IST and the Electricity Authority to deliver the programme of projects to maintain and enhance the critical software systems used to operate the power system and wholesale electricity market.

**About the opportunity**

Play a key role in the successful delivery of our Work Programme and be part of a motivated and caring team working to enable New Zealand's energy future. Really interesting and mentally stimulating projects form part of our Joint Work Programme with the Electricity Authority as well as continuous improvement initiatives for Transpower Operations.

Working alongside the Portfolio Delivery Manager, and various internal and external stakeholders, you'll provide essential analytical and support services as well as direct support to collaborative Project Managers who will act as your mentors. You'll enjoy varied tasks including:

- Financial tracking, monthly financial monitoring, monthly reporting on Portfolio projects status to the Electricity Authority, and supporting the Portfolio Delivery manager with preparation on Operations & IST Governance report.
- Scheduling, maintaining, and monitoring the full work programme and other programme level registers.
- Programme/project administration including organising new staff induction for both permanent and contract team members.

Demonstrating customer centricity daily and an ability to work at pace, you'll nurture valuable, constructive relationships - both externally with the Electricity Authority and internally with Transpower's OPTI team, wider Operations Division, Information Services and Technology, and Finance.

Over time we will also support you to run small projects and your work could lead to a Project Manager role in future, or other opportunities within our business

**About you**

An anticipator or roadblocks, you're also able to identify and capitalise on opportunities to improve and develop processes and ensure benefits are captured and realised.

**Your cover letter and CV will demonstrate**:

- Prior experience working in a project driven environment at pace, providing support through project coordination and administration.
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite, including MS Project and Excel.
- Demonstrated understanding of financial management systems.
- Outstanding communication skills, particularly active listening, and the ability to seek clarity and communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
