It is a time of significant change in the health system with reforms well under way to build systems that are people-centred, accessible, deliver more equitable outcomes, and honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Manatū Hauora (the Ministry of Health) is a key partner in this change, advising decision-makers on the direction of the system, bringing population groups and sector organisations together to inform system strategies, and providing policy advice to decision-makers.

Achieving Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) can't be done in the health system alone.

There is a strong recognition within the reforms of the importance of addressing the wider social determinants of health which sit across government.

Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do

The Family and Community Health Policy Group works at the heart of the social determinants of health on a range of cross-cutting health and social issues including homelessness, family and sexual violence, rainbow health, child and youth wellbeing, health of disabled people, women's health, primary and community care, ambulance services and healthy ageing.

As a senior policy analyst you will:

  • Have solid experience working on policy problems, a good set of public policy skills, including a good understanding of Te Tiriti and equity requirements.
  • Be adept at building relationships and influence with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Make a positive contribution to the team and will be open to learning from others, seeking opportunities through your work to further grow both your written and analytical skills.
