It is a time of significant change in the health system with reforms well under way to build systems that are people-centred, accessible, deliver equitable outcomes, and honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Manatū Hauora (the Ministry of Health) is a key partner in this change, advising decision-makers on the direction of the system, bringing population groups, and sector organisations together to inform system strategies, and providing policy advice to decision-makers.

Manatū Hauora has a clear mandate to make changes to the health system that lead to equitable outcomes for tangata whaikaha (disabled people).

Manatū Hauora also sits alongside Whaikaha, the new Ministry of Disabled People, which has an important disability system leadership role.

Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do

The Family and Community Health Policy Group works on a range of cross-cutting health and social issues including the health of disabled people, women's health, child and youth wellbeing, primary and community care, ambulance services, homelessness, healthy ageing and rainbow health.

The Health of Disabled People Policy team is a new policy team within the Group which focuses on ensuring that the health system achieves equitable outcomes for disabled people.

The team focuses on policy related to the health of disabled people, including leading the development of the Health of Disabled People Strategy.

You'll work across the health system to identify opportunities to improve health outcomes for disabled people, as well supporting cross-government commitments.

As a Principal Policy Analyst, you will be asked to lead high priority work, and shape thinking across the health system and other agencies and sectors, and you will play a key role in developing our people.

As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will have the opportunity to lead important work, with support to help you develop your knowledge and skills in areas that may be new to you.

We are committed to developing and growing our people. This includes making sure that you receive regular support and feedback from your manager, and six-monthly development check-ins.

We also provide professional development training covering a range of skills and competencies, and the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the best policy practitioners in Wellington.
